Jacobsen Trailer Website Redesign

One website that I’ve had the priviledge of working on from start to finish under the employment of AR Technologies was the website redesign for Jacobsen Trailers. The site utilizes various jquery scripts and makes some fun use of the widescreen capabilities of newer browsers and monitors without sacrificing any content for older ones. In the process of redesigning this site, I was also asked to redesign their logo to recover an old vintage one from their archives. You can see the result on their page.

Melissa Booey’s Headshots

Melissa Booey, an aspiring actress from Fresno, CA, asked late last year if I do a photoshoot for a set of headshots she needed in order to audition in Southern California. You may have seen Melissa around town in various productions from Fresno City College to Shakespeare in the Park. Melissa was a pleasure to work with, very photogenic, and the day was gorgeous. We spent the day scouting out locations all over the downtown area, and came up with some great shots. Here’s just a sampling. Oh – and keep an eye out for Melissa! One day you may be saying, “I remember back when Darryl did her headshots…”

After watching the new TLC series, “Extreme Couponing,” I decided to test out some of the couponing tricks demonstrated on the show. To my amazement, THEY WORKED! So, in an effort to share some of my newfound shopping fun with others, my wife and I joined with another couple here in Fresno to start FresnoCouponing.com, a blog aimed at sharing coupon deals, shopping specials, and different events in the Central Valley.

From logo design to WordPress layout, this was a fun project — and one that continues to keep me busy with updates, writing, and programming. You can check it out here.

Chester Crab Feed

In January 2011, I was asked to help create the promotional artwork and tickets for a Crab Feed to raise money for the City of Chester Volunteer Fire Department. Initially, the design was to be printed in black and white, but after designing it, I went ahead and added a touch of color for full-color posters to be printed as well.

Chelsea Allen’s Senior Pictures

Chelsea’s shoot took place in two areas of Fresno: Woodward Park & the Cultural Arts District. Both areas were great, and the pictures prove that scheduling a nice afternoon shoot is great for lighting.

Kristin Firestone

Early in 2010, one of my long time friends, Kristin Firestone, came to me with her vision of renting a concert hall and performing a solo concert as part of her senior project. Kristin is an amazing and talented singer, and it was a genuine pleasure to work with her from establishing a branding logo to the full layout of her promotional materials – full color posters, postcards, websites, powerpoint, and social media. The concert was a huge success and a dream come true!

Ashley & Shelby’s Graduation

I was asked by a couple of graduating seniors to design the invitation for the high school graduation party, using their favorite color combinations of tangerine, hot pink, and green. The result was a fun contemporary design that fit nicely into a 4×6 format for easy printing at the local photo processor.

In 2009, I was assigned the task of taking an already existing concept and recreating it in the form of DVD packaging. I took the deer and images from the Peasant Princess series from Mars Hill Church in Seattle and created the following images using Illustrator.

Knott’s Berry Farm

In the summer of 2008, I had the opportunity to perform the role of “Fingers” in the Knott’s Berry Farm Calico Saloon Summer Can-Can Show. The experience was amazing, and I’ll never forget the fun we had that summer. A park visitor captured the show on video and uploaded it to YouTube, which I’ll share here for your enjoyment. Hope you have as much fun watching it as I did performing it.

FCC Student Ministries
